DarkShift ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we handle information when you use our Chrome extension.

Data Collection

DarkShift does NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data whatsoever.

All settings, preferences, and configurations are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API and never leave your computer.

Information Storage

What We Store Locally:

• Dark mode on/off state for each website
• Custom brightness, contrast, warmth, and grayscale settings
• Saved presets and themes
• Whitelist and blacklist of domains
• User interface preferences

Where It's Stored:

All data is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage using Chrome's built-in storage API. This data:

• Remains on your device
• Is never transmitted to external servers
• Is not accessible to us or any third parties
• Can be deleted by removing the extension

Permissions Explanation

DarkShift requires the following permissions to function:

1. "Access your data on all websites"

Why: To inject dark mode CSS filters and styling onto web pages you visit.

What we do: Apply visual transformations (dark mode) to websites.

What we DON'T do: Read, collect, or transmit any content from websites.

2. "Storage"

Why: To save your preferences and settings locally on your device.

What we do: Store your dark mode preferences for each website.

What we DON'T do: Send this data anywhere or share it with anyone.

3. "Active Tab"

Why: To know which website you're currently viewing to apply the correct settings.

What we do: Check the URL to load the appropriate dark mode settings.

What we DON'T do: Track your browsing history or send tab information anywhere.

Third-Party Services

DarkShift does NOT use:

• ❌ Analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• ❌ Advertising networks
• ❌ Social media tracking pixels
• ❌ External APIs or servers
• ❌ Error reporting services that transmit data
• ❌ Any form of telemetry or usage tracking

Children's Privacy

DarkShift does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect data at all, the extension is safe for all ages.

Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.

Data Security

Since we don't collect or transmit any data, there is no data to secure beyond what is already protected by your browser's local storage mechanisms.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• View your settings in the extension popup
• Export your presets and configurations
• Delete all data by uninstalling the extension
• Clear settings by resetting to defaults
